Mini-mission

Bring the pieces together: a welcome message, a starting score and a score after a round reward.

Use only print instructions, text, numbers, a local variable and an addition update. Keep each result on its own line. Your project stays here when you finish.

Your task

Print your own welcome message. Create a local score starting at 10 and print it. Update that variable by adding an 8-point round reward, then print 18. Three output lines: message, 10, 18. Print the same variable directly at both observations. Use straight-line print calls, local values and updates for this exercise. The required calculation or variable must supply the displayed value; unused code does not count.

Output requirements

Print your own welcome message. Create a local score starting at 10 and print it. Update that variable by adding an 8-point round reward, then print 18. Three output lines: message, 10, 18. Print the same variable directly at both observations. Use straight-line print calls, local values and updates for this exercise. The required calculation or variable must supply the displayed value; unused code does not count.

Your message is your choice. The checker reads actual output and value types; the reference wording is not required.

How your work is checked

The required syntax is stated in Your task. The Luau parser checks for local-variable, assignment, local-read, addition, same-local-before-after; the output check verifies the stated result. It does not trace every intermediate variable value.

This activity reuses syntax you have already met.

    What this exercise checks

Actual Output · the stated behavior · extra output forbidden.

Successful execution is required. A compile error, runtime error or execution limit never completes this task.

Whitespace, matching single or double quotes, and different variable names are allowed. Output-only tasks accept any valid Luau solution meeting the displayed result and value types. Construct tasks use the stated straight-line form.

Lesson requirements: local-variable, assignment, local-read, addition, same-local-before-after. These are exercise requirements, not Luau syntax rules.
